Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MC-Servers.io — for players and server owners.
General
What is MC-Servers.io?
MC-Servers.io is a free Minecraft server discovery platform. We help players find the best Minecraft servers by providing real-time player counts, uptime monitoring, detailed analytics, and community voting. Server owners can list their servers for free to reach thousands of new players.
Is MC-Servers.io free to use?
Yes. Browsing servers, voting, and using our tools (status checker, skin viewer, MOTD generator, banner generator) are completely free. Server owners can list their server at no cost. We offer optional Premium and Sponsored listing tiers for server owners who want extra visibility.
Is MC-Servers.io affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft?
No. MC-Servers.io is an independent community platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Mojang Studios, Microsoft, or the official Minecraft brand. "Minecraft" is a trademark of Mojang Studios. We use the name solely to describe the game our platform supports.
How do you make money?
MC-Servers.io is supported by advertising and optional premium server listings. We display non-intrusive ads through Google AdSense. Server owners can optionally pay for Premium or Sponsored placement to increase their visibility on the platform.
For Players
How do I join a Minecraft server from your list?
Find a server you like, copy its IP address (click the copy button), then open Minecraft, go to Multiplayer → Add Server, paste the IP, and click Join. For Bedrock players, add the server in the Servers tab. Some servers support both editions via crossplay.
How does voting work?
Voting helps your favorite servers climb the rankings. Click the vote button on any server page, and you'll be directed to confirm your vote. You can vote once per server per day. Many servers reward players who vote with in-game items or currency.
Are the player counts accurate?
Our system pings each listed server regularly to check online status and player counts. The numbers shown are real-time queries to the actual server — not estimated or cached. However, some servers may use plugins that modify their reported player count.
What do the categories mean?
We categorize servers by gameplay type: Survival (classic Minecraft experience), PvP (player combat), Skyblock (island building), Prison (mine and rankup), Minigames (quick-play games like Bedwars), SMP (community survival), and more. Filter by category to find your preferred style.
Is it safe for my child to play on servers listed here?
MC-Servers.io lists community-run servers and does not vet or moderate the servers themselves. Server quality and safety vary. We recommend reading our Parents & Safety Guide for tips on choosing appropriate servers for younger players. Always check a server's rules and moderation policies before joining.
For Server Owners
How do I add my server to MC-Servers.io?
Click 'Add Server' in the navigation bar, fill in your server's IP address, port, name, description, and categories, then submit. Your server will appear on the platform after a brief review. Listing is free.
What are Premium and Sponsored listings?
Premium listings give your server a highlighted appearance and priority placement in search results. Sponsored listings appear at the top of category pages and the homepage with a 'Sponsored' badge. Both are optional paid tiers designed to boost visibility. Free listings remain visible and functional.
Can I edit my server listing after submitting?
Yes. Server owners can update their server description, categories, banner, and other details through the dashboard. Log in with the account you used to submit your server to access the management panel.
How do I get more votes for my server?
Encourage your players to vote daily by offering in-game rewards (vote keys, currency, etc.). Many successful servers use Votifier or NuVotifier plugins to automatically reward players who vote on MC-Servers.io. The more votes your server receives, the higher it ranks.
Do you support Bedrock and crossplay servers?
Yes. We support Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, and Crossplay servers. When submitting your server, select the correct edition type. Crossplay servers using GeyserMC or similar bridges should select 'Crossplay' to appear in both Java and Bedrock searches.
Technical
How often are server statuses updated?
Server statuses are pinged regularly throughout the day. Player counts and online/offline status are refreshed in near real-time. Historical uptime data is aggregated over 30-day windows.
What tools do you offer?
We provide free Minecraft tools including: Server Status Checker (check if any server is online), Player Skin Viewer (view any player's skin in 3D), MOTD Generator (create colored server MOTDs), and Banner Generator (design Minecraft banners). All tools are available at mc-servers.io/tools.
